CEO Weekly Message

As we approach the Club’s 20th Annual General Meeting, which will be held on Wednesday 30 September 2020, I would like to take this opportunity to thank those members who are currently in Queensland and have registered their attendance - to ensure we will have the quorum that is required for the meeting to take place. In particular, I would like to acknowledge the support of Elaine Bowles (President of The Kingfishers) who has spent a lot of time rallying the troops in the lead up to the meeting. As per the Club’s constitution, we require 200 members to attend in person (ordinary members), which we have easily achieved. We expect approximately 300 members to attend the AGM. We must advise members that the pavilion is limited to 297 people seated (as per the 4 square metre rule) and that once the capacity is reached, other members must stand outside.

This year, for the first time, we will be live streaming the AGM for members who are unable to attend (subject to no service disruptions). The live stream can be viewed under the AGM menu on the CMCA website, and we will advise members of a link and further details shortly.

Also, for the first time, we have made all statutory reports available on the CMCA website prior to the meeting. These three reports – Chairman’s Report, CEO’s Report and Financial Report – are available at https://benefits.cmca.net.au/Content/agm. We are allowing members the opportunity to view these reports and pose questions to the board via email prior to the AGM taking place. Members are to send their questions through to kimatkinson@cmca.net.au by 12noon Tuesday 29 September 2020. These questions will be presented by the chairman on behalf of the member and then answered by the presenter of the report the question addresses.

The way in which this AGM will be staged indicates just how times have changed. We were currently meant to be well into the 35th National Rally in Gympie, Qld – where the original AGM was to be staged. This has been postponed to next year, subject to COVID-19 restrictions.
