Join us on adventure through Queensland’s outback down to New South Wales, ending on the beautiful Clarence River in Iluka. Start this safari off the right way with a relaxing cruise along the Thompson River in Longreach and then travel through the Queensland outback where you’ll get to enjoy farm stays as an accommodation option. This trip has several fun activities planned which include a cotton farm and winery tour, a stay at Nindigully Pub, fossicking for opals at Lightning Ridge, soaking in a warm bore bath at Burren Junction and much more!

Draft Itinerary

15 May Meet up at Longreach Tourist Park at 3pm – A coach will pick the group up at 4:30 pm for the cruise on the Thomson River at sunset. Enjoy a 2-course dinner around the campfire and live entertainment by a barefoot bush poet as the group gets to know each other (power, toilet, shower) (show and dinner included, drinks not included) 

16 May Depart for Stonehenge and stay in a free camp and enjoy a spectacular sunset around the camp sire - if permitted

17 May Depart for Eromanga staying in a free camp, stopping at Cooper Creek for lunch 

18 May Enjoy a tour of the Eromanga Natural History Museum in the morning. Travel to Quilpie after lunch and stay at the Channel Country Tourist Park and enjoy a soak in the hot artesian spa (showers, toilets, water and power)

19 May Depart for Charleville where we will stay for a night at Evening Star Tourist Park for 2 nights and enjoy star gazing show in the evening (power, toilet, shower, water) 

20 May Free day to explore Charleville

21 May Depart for Charlotte Plains Farm Stay where we will stay 2 nights and experience all that it has to offer (unpowered, toilet, shower) 

22 May Enjoy a history tour of Charlotte Plains and relax for the rest of the day enjoying nature 

23 May Depart for St George where we will stay at Pelican's Rest Caravan Park, free time to stock up (power, toilets, shower) 

24 May The group will be collected by coach for a tour of a cotton farm and winery which includes a lunch (tour and lunch included, drinks not included) 

25 May Depart for Nindigully Pub where we will free camp on the river and enjoy a dinner at the pub (dinner included, drinks not included) (no facilities)

26 May Depart for Lightning Ridge, famous for black opal mining, where we will stay for 2 nights in the Lightning Ridge Tourist Park (power, showers, toilet). For dinner we'll enjoy a woodfire pizza meal (dinner included, drinks not included) 

27 May Free time in the morning, then collected by coach in the afternoon for a tour of Lightning Ridge which will include fossicking, visiting miner camps, Lunatic Hill Open Cut, Amigo’s Castle, walk-in mine, afternoon tea (all included)

28 May Depart for Burren Junction bore baths where we will stay for 1 night. Enjoy a soak in the hote bore baths (toilets, no facilities)

29 May Depart for Cranky Rock Reserve, staying for one night. Go for a walk down to the billabong, see the wildlife and relax around a campfire (some power, toilet, shower) 

30 May Depart for Lillydale Primitive Campground where we will free camp on the beautiful Clarence River

31 May Depart for the beautiful seaside village of Iluka on the mouth of the Clarence River where we will spend our final night together. We'll take a short stroll to the local hotel overlooking the river where we will have a farewell dinner (dinner included, drinks not included) (power, toilets, shower) 

1 June We farewell our new friends and depart on our individual travels.
