CEO Weekly Message

I am pleased to advise that the Board has now formally endorsed the destination for the 40th National Rally in 2027, which will be held in Canberra. The rally will not be held at the previous venue, but instead at Thoroughbred Park, located directly across the road. The venue is a fully licensed racecourse that is widely recognised for hosting a broad range of major functions and events in addition to racing activities.

Canberra offers so much at that time of year, and the opportunity to capitalise on the city in full bloom provides a wonderful experience for all attendees.

The rally is planned for mid to late October 2027, currently scheduled from 17–24 October, and will coincide with a registered race meeting during our occupancy of the complex. This is not the first occasion CMCA has successfully partnered with a racing venue, having previously incorporated both greyhound and harness racing events into rally activities.

While certain operational restrictions will apply during the event, the venue offers outstanding facilities, including superb undercover heated and air-conditioned function spaces, catering amenities, and extensive parking. We are also hopeful of securing complimentary tram travel, with the tram stop located approximately 250 metres from the venue, providing convenient access to the city and the Dickson shopping precinct.

A dedicated camping area will be established within the centre of the racecourse for self-contained vehicles. This area will provide access to potable water only and will not include additional services. As the venue remains a fully operational racecourse, members within this section will not be permitted to enter or exit between 3:30am and 8:30am each day. The significant advantage, however, is that no site fees will apply within this designated area. Please note, rally registration fees will still apply. Members will need to fully understand and agree to the terms and conditions before electing to stay in this area.

Regular powered and unpowered sites will available outside the self-contained area.

The formal contract is still being finalised and is expected to be completed in the coming months.

I am also pleased to announce that David Graham V63730 has been appointed as Rally Manager for the 40th National Rally.

Further details will be released as planning progresses.

Safe travelling

Richard
