New RV Friendly Town

Our latest RV Friendly Town is Wilcannia, NSW!

Wilcannia is a small town located along the banks of the Darling River in far-western New South Wales. Once a thriving inland port during the 19th-century river trade, the town played a crucial role in the transportation of wool and other goods. Today, Wilcannia is home to the Barkindji people - the traditional custodians of the land. The town has a rich Indigenous heritage, evident in its cultural sites, artwork, and connection to the Darling River, which is central to Barkindji traditions.

For those visiting Wilcannia, short-term parking can be found at Victory Caravan Park, Barrier Hwy. Stays are limited to 96 hours, and unpowered sites are available for $20 per vehicle per night with access to showers, toilets, water, and the BBQ included. Power is available at an additional fee. A dump point and potable water are accessible at Myers Street.

Wilcannia is a hidden gem in the Australian outback, offering rich Indigenous heritage, stunning river landscapes, and historic architecture. As the traditional land of the Barkindji people, the town is a great place to experience Aboriginal culture, including local art and stories. Wilcannia’s well-preserved sandstone buildings reflect its past as a bustling river port. Visitors can also enjoy birdwatching, fishing, and exploring nearby Paroo-Darling National Park.
