I would like to take a moment to explain the situation at CMCA Greenpatch Campground Gordonvale, Qld and the decision made this week to close the park immediately. We are working closely with Cairns Regional Council to find a suitable solution, as the campground is in an excellent location just off the Bruce Highway, 40km south of Cairns.

CMCA took over management of this park several months ago, after Council found it increasingly difficult to manage remotely, particularly around risk and compliance. Unfortunately, what we did not anticipate was the disruption caused by individuals living nearby, whose ongoing anti-social behaviour has impacted our volunteer custodians, members, and the general public. This behaviour cannot be tolerated, and while the park itself has the potential to be one of the best in Australia, the situation has had a major effect on the operations.

As a result, council and CMCA have agreed to close the park indefinitely. The toilet, shower block, and day rest area are also closed while the situation is being addressed.

I make no apologies for this decision - it has been made to protect our Club, our members, and the general public. We will provide an update when there are further developments.
