CMCA Statement (6) – Coronavirus/COVID-19                         2 April 2020

As previously advised, the board and management will continue to keep you updated, at least twice a week, regarding the effects COVID-19 is having on our Club and its members.

Government and health officials update Australians, almost daily, with the changes occurring, and we will ensure compliance to any directives. State Governments can now enforce and fine individuals, and companies alike, if they break self-isolation, social distancing and other like rules.

In the interest of members on the road full-time, the Club has established a webpage – which we will continue to update – listing places where members can ‘park up’ for this period of restricted travel. This will be a great resource for members affected, and if other members would like to share this information with other RVers, they are welcome to do so. This information is situated on our website http://members.cmca.net.au/content/stay which is easy to access – you just need your CMCA username and password. If you don’t have your login credentials, call 02 4978 8788 and one of the staff members working from home will be able to assist.

As a result of CMCA’s communication with State Governments, I can advise members that the Queensland Government issued a media release yesterday – it can be viewed at https://www.vision6.com.au/em/message/email/view.php?id=1234545&a=23788&k=V1XoY6E4osIUf6wXgyclN4OGj2zR4qJ0jYR4cI2MRo4. This release outlines that they are not looking to restrict those members on the road full-time giving them access to areas, however they are endeavouring to eliminate all recreational camping (throughout the Easter holidays) as they have clearly stated that these campers are not welcome in these areas at this time. There is a big difference between the two. Information from the Victorian Government, is also available at https://www.localgovernment.vic.gov.au/__data/assets/word_doc/0034/458782/Bulletin-14-2020.docx. We are still communicating with the other state and territories.

These are unprecedented times; we all must work together. We ask that all members remain calm and abide by all guidelines that have been established regarding essential travel only, border restrictions, park closures, self- isolation, social-distancing and when and how to seek medical advice/treatment – for more information please refer to https://www.health.gov.au/ or down or download the new Coronavirus Australia app.

Again, thank you to all those who continue to support both the Club and the actions needed to overcome COVID-19. The health and well-being of all members, volunteers and staff of CMCA is paramount and remains our first priority.
