CEO Weekly Message

What a week it has been, particularly with the devastating floods throughout Queensland and New South Wales. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected, and we especially think of them during this time with the exhausting recovery period that is to come as this could take months and possibly years.

On Tuesday afternoon, the historic wool stores in Newcastle erupted into flames. These former wool stores, now being used as storage and office space, were approximately 300m from NHQ. Despite the rain in the area, the fire soon took hold (most likely fuelled by lanolin-soaked timber). The major concern was how close the old wool stores were to the neighbouring fuel depot. Needless to say, the staff at NHQ were evacuated and the office was closed for the remainder of the day.

What this highlights, with all the natural disasters and events we have experienced in recent years, we cannot take life for granted. I encourage all members to get out and enjoy our great country and be safe doing it.

Safe travels

Richard
