CEO Weekly Message

For members who have not yet heard, CMCA will receive $1.1million from the Road Safety Awareness and Enablers Fund as part of the Federal Government’s strategy to increase road safety awareness. This is the single largest grant the Club has ever received and is more than double the $500,000 we received eighteen months ago from the NSW Government for the installation of dump points. It is quite an achievement to receive $1.6million across both these grants.

Our detailed submission was awarded the maximum amount during round one of the Road Safety Awareness and Enablers Fund. CMCA will use the funding to increase road safety awareness and education specific to the RV industry, establishing a 3 and a half year campaign targeting key areas that aim to minimise incidents and encourage consistent and compliant behaviour on the road. The campaign will educate and promote nine core areas including towing, vehicle weight & distribution, speed, overtaking safely, UHF radio communication, rest, road services, consumer behaviour and licensing.

CMCA will develop educational and instructive material available to all RV consumers Australia-wide. This material will be promoted via various formats including print, digital, trade shows, interactive displays and participation at key events. We will seek support from and partner with industry manufacturers, suppliers and related groups who have an interest in RV road safety.

CMCA has committed an extra $200,000 across the grant period (cash and in-kind) to support the campaign. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Federal Government for their support towards the RV Road Safety Awareness campaign and allowing CMCA to be a part of increasing road safety awareness and education. This campaign will highlight our Club’s ability to be the primary consumer representative for the RV sector.

Safe travelling

Richard.
