Next week, from 11 - 18 May, we come together to celebrate National Road Safety Week. This is a powerful reminder of the shared responsibility we all have in making Australia’s roads safer for every traveller. As we come together to reflect on the lives lost and the countless others impacted by road incidents each year, it's also a time to highlight the initiatives that are actively working to prevent future tragedies.
Our commitment to road safety is reflected in our rvSafe program - a national campaign that provides essential safety information to help drivers of all types of recreational vehicles stay safer on our roads. The rvSafe program offers both digital and hard copy resources designed to educate and empower drivers. From understanding load limits to proper weight distribution, brake systems, and safe driving techniques, rvSafe provides comprehensive guidance to ensure Australians are well-equipped to tow safely. These resources are especially valuable for new RV owners and those embarking on long-distance travel, helping them make informed decisions before and during their journey.
Training plays a vital role in road safety, especially when towing, and partnering with Getabout Training Services / Tow-Ed is a valuable step in the right direction. Whether you're towing a caravan, fifth-wheeler, horse float, or a simple box trailer, it significantly alters the handling and braking dynamics of your vehicle. rvSafe strongly advocates for specialised driver training to increase awareness of towing challenges and to build the confidence and skills necessary for safe travel. Proper training can reduce the risk of accidents, improve reaction times, and ensure safer outcomes for all road users.
By supporting National Road Safety Week and promoting programs like rvSafe, we take active steps toward reducing preventable incidents on our roads. Together, through awareness, education, and responsible behaviour, we can make Australia’s roads safer for everyone.
Safe travelling
