Summary
Join us as we take you through the Queensland and New South Wales outback. Starting with a cruise on the Thompson River in Longreach and ending on the beautiful coast at Red Rock, this exciting tagalong will have you staying at farmstays, enjoying a cotton and wine farm tour and experiencing the history of the outback. You will also get to stay at the Hebel Pub, fossick for opals in Lightning Ridge and soak in a warm bore bath. Come along with your fellow CMCA members to experience all of the above and more!

Itinerary
Day 1 | Meet up at Longreach Tourist Park at 3:00pm for a meet and greet happy hour and sausage sizzle. |
Day 2 | Free day at Longreach with a tour of the School of Air in the morning and a sunset cruise and dinner at Smithys in the afternoon. |
Day 3 | Depart for Stonehenge, staying in free camp on the jump up just outside of Stonehenge, enjoy spectacular sunset around the camp fire (if fire permitted). |
Day 4 | Depart for Eromanga staying in free camp, stopping at Cooper Creek for lunch on the way. |
Day 5 | Enjoy a tour of the Eromanga Natural History Museum in the morning including lunch. Travel to Quilpie after lunch, a short day of travel, staying at Channel Country Tourist Park, Quilpie enjoying a soak in the hot artesian spa. (power, water, showers, toilets). |
Day 6 | Depart for Charleville where we will stay at the Evening Star Caravan Park for 2 nights (power, water, toilets and showers). Enjoy star gazing show in the evening. |
Day 7 | Free day to explore Charleville. |
Day 8 | Depart for award wining Charlottes Plains farm stay where we will stay 2 (unpowered, toilet, shower). Camp fire at night, why not have a soak in one of the many baths and enjoy the night sky. |
Day 9 | Optional tour - history tour of Charlottes Plain and relax for the rest of the day soaking in nature and a hot soak in one of the many baths (cost of tour not included). Join in a camp oven cook up at night, bring your camp oven. |
Day 10 | Depart for St George where we will stay at Pelican’s Rest Caravan Park, free time in the afternoon to stock up (power, toilets, shower). |
Day 11 | Collected by coach and do a tour of a vineyard and cotton farm including a lunch (tour and lunch included, drinks not included). |
Day 12 | Depart for Hebel Pub staying the night and enjoy a dinner at the pub that night (dinner included, drinks not included) (toilet and showers). |
Day 13 | Depart for Lightning Ridge, famous for Black Opal where we will stay for 2 nights in the Big 4 Opal Caravan park (power, showers, toilet) Enjoy local entertainment at night at the Park or walk across the road and have a soak in the hot tub. |
Day 14 | Full day tour to Pubs in the Scrub, hear stories and history about the area, enjoy a Devonshire morning tea and lunch. View mining machiner, camps, mullock heaps, opal mining claims and gain an inside view to an opal miner’s day, try your hand at fossicking. Visit a unique war memorial and museum. |
Day 15 | Free day at Lightning Ridge. Optional tours can be organized (cost not included in safari) –to see the sights of Lightning Ridge. Chambers of the Black Hand and underground mine. Or simply relax and walk around this quirky little town. |
Day 16 | Depart for Burren Junction bore baths staying one night, enjoy a soak in the hot bore baths (toilets, no facilities)rewell our new friends and depart on our individual travels. |
Day 17 | Depart for Cranky Rock Reserve, staying for one night, go for a walk down to the billabong, see the wildlife, relax around a campfire (some power, toilet, shower). |
Day 18 | Depart for Jackadgery and camp on the Mann River for one night. |
Day 19 | Last day of travel we go to Red Rock, a small village on the coast and Corindi River. Enjoy our last happy hour together and share stories of the trip, BBQ dinner at night (all included. Drinks not included). |
Day 20 | We farewell our new friends and depart on our individual travels. |
