Outback to Gulf 2024

Come along and enjoy the spectacular sights of outback QLD. We'll start this safari with a get together and dinner in the heart of Queensland and finish up north at outback Pinnarendi Station with their famous woodfired pizza dinner. This trip will take you through the most beautiful outback scenery alongside your experienced travel guides and fellow members. Follow the Aramac sculpture trail, enjoy a sunset tour at Winton, find the Min Min lights at Boulia, spot a crocodile on a sunset cruise in Karumba, enjoy a cruise up the magical Cobbold Gorge and soak in a hot tub at Tallaroo - there's so much to do!

Itinerary

Day 1 We start the safari at Tambo Caravan Park, with a meet and greet happy hour and dinner together at the hotel after watching the chicken races (dinner provided).

Day 2 We start our travels and head to Lara Wetlands where we will stay 2 nights. On the way we will stop at the Woolscour for a guided tour.

Day 3 Free day at Lara Wetlands.

Day 4 Leaving Lara we head to Aramac and follow the sculpture trail staying at Lake Dunn for the night (unpowered). We will have a barbecue raising funds for RFDS. 

Day 5 Travel to Muttaburra and stay for one night in the Freedom Camp (water available, no facilities). Have a look at the old hospital while you are there; it is beautifully kept and well worth the visit.

Day 6 Today we travel to Winton and stay at the Winton Roadhouse and Caravan Park (power and water available).

Day 7  We are collected by coach for a morning tour of Bladensburg National Park. Take a look at the old shearing shed and homestead and have morning tea at the Billabong. Will you dare to look down into the depths of Scrammy Gorge. Free time in the afternoon before we go out again for a Rangelands Rift sunset tour which includes nibbles (BYO drinks).

Day 8 Today we travel to Boulia and experience the magical colours of the outback. We will be staying in Boulia for two nights.

Day 9 Enjoy a guided tour at the information centre and learn about the Min Min lights (included).

Day 10 Today we travel to Mount Isa where we will stay 2 nights, time to re-stock.

Day 11 Free time in Mount Isa. Why not check out the ‘Outback at Isa’ Centre.

Day 12 We travel to Burke & Wills Roadhouse, staying one night.

Day 13 Travel to Karumba in the Gulf where we will stay for 2 nights.

Day 14  Attend an organised Barra tour at the Barra Centre in the morning, followed by spotting crocodiles and birdlife spotting crocodiles and birdlife late in the afternoon. Enjoy happy hour on the boat (all included).

Day 15  We leave Karumba and travel to Croydon where we will stay one night in the Freedom Camp.

Day 16 Today we travel to Forsayth and stay for 2 nights. Dinner at the pub tonight together (included, drinks not included).

Day 17 Be collected by a coach to go into Cobbold Gorge. Enjoy a cruise up the gorge and a walk on the glass bottom bridge. Bring your swimmers for a swim in the infinity pool (full details of tour TBA).

Day 18 Today we travel to Tallaroo, famous for their hot springs. You can book a private hot tub soak and we will also do a soak in the big pool on a discovery tour (pool only available on tours). This afternoon you will enjoy a Discovery guided tour with a dip in the hot pool.

Day 19  For our final night we travel to Pinnarendi Farm Stay for our final night together and enjoy a woodfired pizza dinner (included).
