Summary 

Join us as we take you through the Queensland and New South Wales outback, starting in Longreach, Qld and ending on the beautiful Clarence River in Iluka, NSW. Relax with a cruise on the Thompson River and then travel through the outback staying at a variety of farm stays and iconic pubs. There will be plenty to see and do on this safari including a visit to a cotton farm and winery tour, a stay at Nindigully Pub, the chance to fossick for opals at Lightning Ridge and more! Explore the history of the outback with like-minded people and experienced guides.

Itinerary

Day  1
Meet up at Longreach Tourist Park at 3pm – a coach will pick the group up at 4:30pm for a sunset cruise on the Thomson River. Enjoy a 2-course dinner around the campfire and live entertainment and get to know each other! (show, dinner included, drinks not included) (power, toilet, shower)
Day  2
Depart for Stonehenge and stay in a free camp. Enjoy a spectacular sunset around the camp fire (if permitted)
Day  3
Depart for Eromanga and stay in free camp, stopping at Cooper Creek for lunch on the way
Day  4
Enjoy a tour of the Eromanga Natural History Museum in the morning.  Travel to Quilpie after lunch - a short day of travel, staying at Channel Country Tourist Park Quilpie. Enjoy a soak in the hot artesian spa (power, water, showers, toilets)
Day  5
Depart for Charleville where we will stay at the Evening Star Caravan Park for two nights (power, water, toilets and showers). The group will attend a star gazing show in the evening
Day  6
Free day to explore Charleville
Day  7
Depart for Charlottes Plains farm stay for two nights (unpowered, toilet, shower)
Day  8
Enjoy a history tour of Charlottes Plain and relax for the rest of the day
Day  9
Depart for St George and stay at Pelican’s Rest Caravan Park, free time in the afternoon to stock up (power, toilets, shower)
Day  10
Collected by coach for a tour of a vineyard and cotton farm – includes lunch (tour and lunch included, drinks not included)
Day  11
Depart for Nindigully Pub where we will free camp on the river and enjoy a dinner at the pub (dinner included, drinks not included (toilet)
Day 12
We will depart for Lightning Ridge, famous for Black Opal, and stay for two nights in the Lightning Ridge Tourist Park (power, showers, toilet). Tonight, we will get together for a woodfired pizza meal (meal included)
Day 13
Enjoy your free time this morning before being collected by coach for a tour of Lightning Ridge including fossicking, miner’s camps’, Lunatic hill open cut, Amigo’s castle, walk-in mine and afternoon tea (all included)
Day 14
Depart for Burren Junction Bore Baths and stay for one night. Enjoy a soak in the hot bore baths (toilets, no facilities)
Day 15
Depart for Cranky Rock Reserve and stay for one night. Go for a walk down to the billabong, see the wildlife and relax around a campfire (some power, toilet, shower)
Day 16
Depart for Lillydale Primitive Campground where we will free camp on the beautiful Clarence River
Day 17
Depart for the beautiful seaside village of Iluka on the mouth of the Clarence River. For the last night of the safari, we will walk to the local hotel for a farewell dinner (dinner included, drinks not included) (power, toilets, shower)
Day 18
We farewell our new friends and depart on our individual travels
